Challenge
To identify key areas for improvement within an existing Incubator Programme for low carbon technology start-up companies, and to examine the potential for expansion of the service to support growth phase businesses that had recently exited the Programme.
Approach
Telephone conversations and face to face meetings with 28 companies from the Incubator Programme representing a variety of technologies and geographies. During these interviews feedback was sought on a range of issues relating to the commercial success of the businesses, including:-

Level and quality of support offered and impact this had on the business

Main challenges (commercial and technical) currently faced by the company having exited the Programme

Potential for support/services from the Carbon Trust to meet these challenges
Outcome
Subsequent analysis of feedback resulted in the identification of key areas for improvement in the existing Programme, together with priorities for potential future service offerings.
