Developing and delivering a turn-around strategy for an existing pharmaceuticals sector company

 
 

Challenge


To develop and implement a strategy to substantially increase the turnover and profitability of an early-stage business in the pharmaceuticals contract research sector.


Approach

  • Utilised Orion Innovations’ ‘business health check’ tool in order to identify the primary reasons for the company’s poor performance

  • Developed a strategy and hierarchy of actions needed for business turnaround and growth

  • Subsequently assumed the role of interim CEO on a part-time basis (one day a week) in order to turn the business around and prepare it for merger or sale

  • Secured first-round funding from Angel and Institutional investors

  • Recruited credible and reputable permanent senior management team

 

Outcome


The company was transformed into a viable ongoing concern. Two options for sale were identified, and the company prepared for sale.
