Sakib is the founding member of Enerleq, an energy company based in Johannesburg, South Africa. He regularly advises a number of South African governmental departments on energy-related matters, as well as providing consulting, advisory and introduction services to overseas energy companies wishing to enter the South African and African markets. Prior to founding Enerleq he worked for 6 years for a leading British new energy technology company, heading up their Johannesburg office. During this time he was responsible for business development, marketing and managing field installations, many of which were in off-grid/rural locations. He has experience in developing techno-economic models for a variety of energy technologies in a number of diverse applications.
Sakib has also worked in the scientific IT industry as a technical support consultant, and later as a business development manager. In the latter role, he worked in a wide range of industries including chemicals, energy, metals, pharmaceuticals and mining, and was responsible for extending business activities into Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Sakib is a chemistry graduate from the University of Hertfordshire, and also holds a PhD from the University of Surrey in computational studies of materials for solid oxide fuel cells, sponsored by British Gas.
